The Latest Model [for reddit]
There's an idea in philosophy called "henosis" that is the key driver in my daily practice. The founder of the [durable] Neoplatonist school said that to achieve henosis one had to "take away everything".
Used as proposed below, the first mantra makes this un-being state readily accessible, while maximizing blood oxygen levels without hyperventilation.
This post is the whole entire "book" so please forgive the occasional use of bold typeface.
The practice is mentally refreshing and physically invigorating. It's also free and easy.
I use the first mantra.
Because the first mantra represents and replicates the sounds of an exhale and an inhale, it becomes the meditator's "thoughts" and it's eventually replaced by the sound, feeling and vibration of exhaling and inhaling, leaving the meditator thoughtless, mindless.
I like to think of the process as the Thought-Devouring Oxygenator.
The mantra isn't "om" as was popularized in the Pop Art movement of the 1960s, the better translation of the Sanskrit is "au-m".
au- creates a natural exhale in humans.
Say "paul" in a whisper that only you can hear, for as long as you can and longer.
Say "haul" in a whisper that only you can hear, for as long as you can and longer.
-mmmm is what you hear and feel as your au- emptied lungs refill completely for the first time ever.
Take a deep breath? No, make a deep breath. Breathe through your nose with your mouth closed, gently using your solar plexus and the sound and thought of au- to make room for the inundating -mmmm.
Love the gentle au-, it's your anchor. Make it last, hear it, feel it, think it and one day soon it will disappear. Until then, thanks to au-m, benefit from the deepest, non-hyperventilatory breathing possible.
Let your -mmmm inhalation happen naturally. Don't try to control, restrict or accelerate it, just hear it and think it.
To make the process meditative, always begin your au- exhalation just before your -m inhalation is complete. Beginning your exhale just before your inhale is complete will make the gentle process circular and meditative.
au-m, the mantra of your most essential act.
[Start] with 10 or [15] minutes.
ps. Once, through meditation, you can hear the sound and feel the vibration of the best way to breathe, you can access it in any situation. I tried to make it a habit and it became a reflex.
pps. Henosis is a glorious universe of un-being. It's there if you want it, along with the "everyday" blood oxygenation.
